Project CATS

While Dreampower Animal Rescue's programs focus on placing companion animals, we do recognize the serious problem surrounding feral cats and their role in the pet overpopulation crisis. In an effort to help educate the public regarding ferals, and to help the compassionate humans who care for special cats, Dreampower Animal Rescue has implemented Project CATS (Capture, Alter, Track Statistics).

This trap/neuter/release program is designed to support the efforts of feral colony caretakers and those who care for as few as one feral cat. Caretakers will be able to borrow humane traps from DAR and arrange to have the feral cat spayed or neutered by one of our participating veterinary clinics at no cost to caretaker. The veterinarians will also "mark" the feral cats either by notching an ear while the cat is under anesthesia, or leaving a unique suture in one ear, so that those caretakers working with an entire colony of cats can readily identify which cats have already been trapped and altered. The feral cats will be vaccinated, but we are still seeking outside funding to cover the cost of testing these cats for feline leukemia and FIV.
