For more information: Aubrey Eastman, Director of Operations (719) 390-7838 January 7, 2009 - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SPAY/NEUTER FUNDING AVAILABLE Thanks to several large grants from local and national foundations, Dreampower Animal Rescue has funding for both its domestic and feral spay/neuter programs. Project STOP has funding available to provide spay/neuter vouchers to sterilize companion dogs and cats living with low-income individuals/families. Dreampower will also help out unemployed or underemployed pet owners who wish to get their animals altered. A $10 co-pay and approved application is required. Project CATS also has funding available for feral cat caretakers to have their charges spayed or neutered at no cost. Project CATS, initiated in 2005, is one of the area’s very first trap/neuter/return programs, and has helped trap, spay or neuter, return to colonies, and feed hundreds of feral cats throughout Southern Colorado. Project STOP, launched in 1998, was also among the first programs of its kind in the State of Colorado, and has assisted in sterilizing thousands of companion animals, thus preventing hundreds of thousands of unwanted pets from being born. Dreampower is Southern Colorado’s oldest and largest, no-kill rescue. DAR is a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing adoptable companion animals and giving them a second chance at life. Now in its 19th year of operation, Dreampower has facilitated well over 14,000 pet adoptions. Monetary donations, temporary pet foster homes, and volunteers are always needed.
